The Bavaria Cruiser 41 is the result of an innovative collaboration between Farr Yacht Design and the German shipyard Bavaria. It is an efficient production sailboat designed for family cruising and sailing trips alike. The best guide to finding Bavaria 41 sailboat.
Charter companies and sailing schools favor these boats, which hold up well on ocean passages. Just avoid using in-mast furling mains, as these can quickly toast batteries.
Cabins
Bavaria’s designers have given her cabins plenty of space and an inviting ambiance, including a master cabin in the bow with an en suite toilet and shower, two further double cabins aft, a galley kitchen to port, U-shaped settee encircling dining table as well as multiple skylights and picture windows that ensure plenty of natural light throughout her cabins.
Lighting design makes full use of natural light, and ventilation can be precisely managed using various options: eight roof hatches, newly designed flush windows in the coach roof, and both hull and cockpit windows can all be opened at different degrees to allow just the right amount of fresh air into cabins, heads and saloon areas.
The Bavaria Cruiser 41 is ideal for two couples looking to experience the fun and relaxation of sailing together or with family and friends, or just as an intimate date night experience. Boasting a robust sail plan and intelligent features, this boat makes an excellent choice for those who appreciate sailing’s sportiness without giving up comfort and convenience.
Cockpit
Bavaria Cruiser 41s are designed for peaceful sailing in all conditions and are simple to manage, making them a fantastic choice for racing enthusiasts. When equipped with race gear, they become known as C 41 S models, featuring low-aspect cast iron fin keels of 2.05 meters, taller performance alloy Selden tapered mast and boom, as well as Rodkick gas-sprung vang for effortless amateur regatta competition.
An expansive cockpit area provides plenty of room to move about and work comfortably at the helm, thanks to twin-wheel steering that makes keeping an eye on sails simple visibility for all points of sail. A six-person seating arrangement features a handy chart plotter. Furthermore, a fold-down boarding platform makes getting out onto inviting waters or on-island adventures simple.
Inside Red Baron’s interior lies a straight-line galley with a three-burner stove and oven, double sinks, and plenty of storage to port; to starboard is a long U-shaped settee wrapped around the dining table; large skylight windows let in natural light to create an airy and welcoming saloon environment; its owner’s cabin can be found up in its bow with full-size double berth and second enclosed head; two more cabins can be found under its cockpit each boasting their separate heads aft from these main areas.
Sailing Performance
The Bavaria 41 is constructed on a sturdy platform, which serves multiple functions. When dropping anchor and transitioning from your dinghy, this platform serves as the boarding point. Loading supplies, inflating the dinghy, or simply relaxing after an exhilarating day on the water. At the rear end, there is also a convenient gangway as well as ample room to store and charge batteries.
A lightweight but efficient Selden performance mast and racing boom allow this cruiser to adapt quickly to changing conditions. All lines lead aft towards the cockpit for convenient trimming from either side, as is standard practice on European production boats.
The Genoa tracks have been mounted at an ideal distance for easy trimming by the helmsman, while Elvstrom Sails membrane sails are fitted onto this rig for superior performance. Garmin’s electronic instrumentation provides speed, course to wind, and other essential information directly through its instrument panel at the helm.
Aucklander Thomas Baron recently added a Gennaker to his Cruiser 41 and significantly upgraded her sailing performance. While Baron describes himself as an enthusiastic cruiser, he does not plan on mimicking WW1 flying ace Edward Sopwith’s antics onboard! Baron chose an optional big foresail rig along with a sizeable symmetrical rudder and Jefa steering for quick responses on his new boat!
